Liposuction in Dubai
Liposuction removes localised fat deposits that persist despite diet and exercise, allowing a surgeon to redefine contours across the abdomen, flanks, arms, chin and more. At ABC, procedures are performed by Dr Amna Belhoul, FRCS (Glasgow), Consultant & Head of Plastic Surgery, with a female surgical team at our clinic in Mirdif Hills.

What liposuction is, and who it helps
Liposuction (also called lipoplasty or suction-assisted lipectomy) is a surgical procedure that removes stubborn, localised fat from specific areas of the body. It is one of the most commonly performed body-contouring operations worldwide, used to address areas such as the abdomen, flanks, hips, thighs, arms, knees, chin and neck. The aim is to refine and rebalance body proportions, not to produce a significant change in overall body weight.
It is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. It suits people who are at or near a stable weight and have specific areas of fat that do not respond to exercise and diet. Whether liposuction alone is right for you, or whether it is better combined with another procedure, is assessed individually at your consultation with Dr Amna.

- In-clinic lymphatic-drainage therapy (LPG) to support recovery from swelling and fluid after surgery
Liposuction techniques we offer
The technique used depends on the area being treated, the volume of fat, and your individual anatomy. Options are discussed fully at consultation.
Vaser liposuction
Vaser uses ultrasound energy to liquefy fat cells selectively before removal, which can allow more precise sculpting and is used in High-Definition techniques to define the underlying musculature in suitable candidates. It is also associated with smoother results in certain body areas compared with traditional suction alone.
Laser liposuction
Laser-assisted liposuction uses laser energy to liquefy fat and, in some cases, stimulate skin tightening. It can be a useful option in areas where additional skin-tightening effect is desirable, such as the chin, neck and inner arms, though it does not replace a surgical lift where there is significant skin excess.
Body areas — abdomen, arms, chin and beyond
Liposuction can address the abdomen and flanks, hips, thighs, back, arms, knees, chin and double chin. In suitable cases, fat removed during liposuction can be transferred (lipofilling / fat transfer) to restore volume elsewhere — for example, to the buttocks or to the face — rather than being discarded.
Recovery and what to expect
You will wear a compression garment over the treated area for several weeks and rest for the first few days. Swelling, bruising and some tenderness are normal in the weeks after surgery and settle gradually; most people feel comfortable returning to a desk job within one to two weeks, while strenuous exercise is usually avoided for around four to six weeks, following your surgeon’s guidance.
Lymphatic-drainage sessions, available in-clinic at ABC, can be timed to help manage post-operative swelling and fluid build-up as you recover. The final contour continues to improve as swelling fully resolves, which can take several months.
- Compression garment worn for several weeks after surgery
- Swelling and bruising settle gradually over weeks to months
- Lymphatic drainage available in-clinic to support healing
- Light activity from around one to two weeks; strenuous exercise from around four to six weeks
Liposuction — frequently asked questions
How much does liposuction cost in Dubai?
The cost of liposuction in Dubai depends on the number of areas treated, the technique used (such as Vaser or laser liposuction), the volume of fat and the complexity of your case. After your consultation with Dr Amna we provide a clear, itemised quote. Message us on WhatsApp to arrange your consultation.
Is liposuction a weight-loss method?
No. Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure, not a weight-loss treatment. It removes localised fat deposits to reshape specific areas, but it does not produce a significant reduction in overall body weight. It works best for people at or near a stable weight who have specific stubborn areas that do not respond to diet and exercise.
Which areas of the body can be treated with liposuction?
Commonly treated areas include the abdomen, flanks (love handles), hips, outer and inner thighs, back, upper arms, knees, chin and neck (double chin). In suitable cases, fat can also be transferred (lipofilling) to another area rather than discarded. Dr Amna assesses which areas are appropriate for you at consultation.
What is the difference between Vaser and traditional liposuction?
Traditional liposuction uses suction alone to remove fat. Vaser liposuction first applies ultrasound energy to selectively liquefy fat cells, which can allow more precise sculpting with less disruption to surrounding tissue. Vaser is particularly used in High-Definition liposuction to define muscle contours. Which technique is right depends on the area, the volume and your individual anatomy — Dr Amna advises at consultation.
How long does recovery take after liposuction?
Most people return to a desk job within one to two weeks. Strenuous exercise is usually avoided for four to six weeks. Swelling is normal and can take several months to fully resolve, so the final result becomes clearer over time. Your surgeon provides a personalised aftercare plan.
Is the fat removal from liposuction permanent?
The fat cells removed do not return. However, remaining fat cells in the body can still enlarge with significant weight gain, which can affect overall body contour. Maintaining a stable weight after surgery helps preserve the result over time.
What are the risks of liposuction?
Like all surgical procedures, liposuction carries risks. These can include infection, bleeding, fluid accumulation (seroma), contour irregularities, changes in skin sensation and, rarely, more serious complications. Your suitability and individual risk profile are assessed at consultation, and Dr Amna discusses these with you fully so you can make an informed decision.
