What lip fillers are, and what they can do
Lip filler is an injectable gel made from hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. When placed precisely in and around the lips, it can add hydration, refine definition along the lip border, or increase volume — depending on what you are looking to address.
Results vary between individuals and depend on the product used, the amount placed and your natural lip tissue. A consultation with Dr Amna allows her to assess your anatomy, understand your goals and set realistic expectations before any treatment is agreed.

Approaches to lip filler treatment
The right approach depends on your natural lip anatomy and what you want to achieve. Dr Amna assesses this at consultation and discusses options with you before any treatment.
Subtle natural enhancement
A conservative amount of filler placed to soften asymmetry or add a gentle fullness, keeping the lips in proportion with your face. Suitable for those who want a refreshed look without noticeable change.
Hydration and definition
Filler placed along the lip border and body to sharpen definition and improve hydration in lips that appear thin or dry, without significantly altering their shape.
Adjusting or dissolving existing filler
Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with an enzyme (hyaluronidase) if you have previously placed filler that looks uneven or does not suit you, or if you simply want a reset before new treatment.
What to expect after lip fillers
Swelling and some tenderness in the first day or two are common after lip filler injections and usually settle within a few days. Bruising can occur and may take a week or more to resolve. Most people return to their usual activities the same day, though results are best assessed once swelling has gone down.
Lip filler results are temporary. Duration varies between individuals. Your follow-up plan and any aftercare instructions are discussed with Dr Amna at your appointment.
- Swelling common in the first 1 to 2 days
- Bruising possible; usually resolves within a week
- Avoid pressure on lips and intense heat on the same day

Lip fillers — frequently asked questions
How long do lip fillers last?
Duration varies between individuals and depends on the product used, the amount placed, and how your body metabolises the filler. Results are temporary. Dr Amna discusses realistic expectations at your consultation.
Will my lips look natural?
That is the goal. Treatment is planned with your facial proportions in mind, using a conservative approach to maintain natural movement and balance. A doctor-led consultation helps set realistic expectations and match treatment to your anatomy.
Does lip filler hurt?
The lips are sensitive and some discomfort during the injections is expected. A topical numbing cream is typically applied beforehand to reduce this. Tell us if you have concerns and we will make the experience as comfortable as possible.
What about swelling and downtime?
Swelling and tenderness in the first one to two days are common. Bruising can also occur and may take up to a week or more to fade. Most people continue with their day after the appointment, though social events are best planned a few days later to allow swelling to settle.
Can lip filler be dissolved or adjusted?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase if you are unhappy with the result or if there is a concern about how it sits. This is one advantage of hyaluronic acid over other filler types. Suitability is assessed at your appointment.
How much do lip fillers cost in Dubai?
Cost depends on the product used and the amount needed, which is assessed individually. After your consultation with Dr Amna we provide a clear quote. Message us on WhatsApp to arrange your consultation.
